About us
A Colchester private hire firm, since 2008
AB Airport Transfers arranges pre-booked journeys from Colchester: airport runs, seaport transfers, and the everyday trips that need a car at a set time. The office is local and the phone is answered by someone who can change your booking.
The business
We have been trading from Colchester since 2008, and the work is what you would expect of a local firm: an early run to Stansted, a cruise transfer to Southampton, a car to the station, a group going to the theatre and back again.
Every journey is arranged in advance, either through this website or over the phone, and the price is agreed before you travel. There is no card fee, and the £1.50 booking fee is inside the total you are quoted rather than added at the end. If your plans change, you call the office and a person changes the job.
What we book, and the limits each vehicle is booked to, are set out on the services and fleet pages.

How booking works
Two routes to the same place. Use whichever suits the journey.
Book online
Give us the journey and you will see the price for each vehicle category before you choose one. Nothing is booked until you confirm.
Or call the office
Useful if the journey is unusual, if the timing is awkward, or if you would simply rather arrange it with a person.
Confirm the details
A name, a contact number, and a flight number if you are heading to an airport. That is what the driver needs to find you.
Keep the reference
You get a booking reference and a summary of the journey. If anything changes, call the office — the earlier the better.
Operator licensing
AB Airport Transfers is a licensed private hire operator with Colchester City Council. Private hire drivers and the vehicles they drive are licensed by the council as well, and a booking has to be taken in advance through a licensed operator. That is why a private hire car cannot be flagged down in the street the way a hackney carriage can, and why we ask for the journey details rather than sending a car on spec.
Our operator licence number
The number will be displayed here. We have not printed one yet, because a licence number on a page like this has to be the real one, checkable against the council’s register. Until it is published here you can ask the office for it on 01206 701701, or ask Colchester City Council directly.
What we have not published
A taxi website can say almost anything, so it is worth saying what this one leaves out. There is no star rating, no review count and no number of journeys on these pages, because none of them are ours to publish. When our Google reviews are connected you will be able to read them here, unedited and in full.
Several service questions are missing on purpose too: how a delayed flight is handled, whether the driver can meet you inside the terminal, child seats, wheelchair access, waiting time and cancellation terms. They depend on the vehicle and the day, so ask the office before you book and you will get a straight answer rather than a promise from a web page.
If anything on this site looks wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
